J.D. White observed wildlife for hours at a time growing up near the wildlife management areas in Ballard and McCracken counties in Western Kentucky. Local and regional art collectors enjoy White's paintings of wildlife, his favorite subject.
J.D. and his wife, Jana, have three children, Joy, Sara and Neal. His wife and all the children are supportive of J.D.'s artwork and help in various aspects of creating and naming each piece.
J.D. is a self-taught artist, who from an early age began sketching and drawing with pen, pencil and charcoal. His wife (Jana) was curious if he could paint and requested murals to be painted on their childrens walls. The successful completion of these wall murals encouraged
him to attempt a painting in 1996, entitled "Remembrance", which was entered into competition at the 1997 Regional Sampler hosted by Paducah's Yeier Art Center. This
competition, involving several hundred artist, resulted in J.D. being selected as one of five artist to represent the Yeiser Art Center. Presently his paintings and murals are being displayed in local gallerys, businesses, and in
residences throughout Western Kentucky.
"I feel that God has given me this talent to share the beauty
of our natural world and its interaction with the creatures of
the wild. When you start putting the details on a wildlife
painting, that's when you see it come alive! That's the exciting
part, to make it real, to get the same look you see in the wild!
Enjoy our artwork and visit us again."
